The Ministry of Education and Higher Education clarified what is being circulated about depriving students of foreign curricula of benefits. She confirmed in a statement that this statement is not based on the content of Law No. 48/2026, which amended Law No. 42/2026, which was approved by the House of Representatives and is related to exceptional provisions for the high school certificate for the year 2026. The Ministry called on all concerned to read the text of the law carefully, especially the article that specifies the conditions for giving a statement. The requirement that the student’s name appear in the nominal Lebanese curriculum regulations is a text explicitly stated in the law approved by the House of Representatives, and not a decision or condition introduced by the Ministry of Education. She pointed out that the law does not include a clear text specifying the conditions for granting the intermediate certificate certificate (brevet), as well as some certificates of vocational and technical education, which requires legislative clarification. The Ministry confirmed that students of foreign curricula are not deprived of their educational rights or of the certificates provided to them by the legal system, as the Ministry already adopts specific mechanisms to recognize and equate foreign certificates, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and includes certificates issued by foreign curricula that are officially recognized in Lebanon. The Ministry of Education is also interested in clarifying that the numbers circulating about applications for free candidacy are exaggerated, as the number of free applications for the high school certificate reached 1,341 applications, while the number for the intermediate certificate reached 376 applications. Accordingly, the Ministry renews its call to be careful and read the entire law before making accusations, in order to preserve the students’ right to know their rights in accordance with legal procedures.
